Sherwood Shelving™ uses the highest quality furniture board available on the market. A 45lb high density rating makes this board strong and very durable.
Many people are concerned about health – and rightly so – that is why Sherwood Shelving™ goes to extreme lengths to purchase the highest quality board with the best overall formaldehyde emissions. Most Canadian manufactured particle board has a formaldehyde emission rating of up to 0.30 ppm; Sherwood Shelving™ uses a particle board with a formaldehyde emission of 0.12 ppm. This is approximately 1/3 the formaldehyde emissions of particle board used by some of our competitors. In fact, the formaldehyde emissions in the board we use is so small that there is probably more formaldehyde emissions from the plants within the customer’s home. We pay a premium for the quality of board that we use but the benefits of using this high quality board are:

Although our regular engineered furniture board is the best in North America we also make available a board that goes above and beyond!
In keeping with our core commitment to sustain environmental resources for future generations, and to provide a product for those who are sensitive to emissions, we also provide a green board. An engineered composite panel wood product made from 100% pre-consumer and reclaimed Ponderosa pine and associated species of western wood particles. This product employs the strictest of green practices in the manufacture of its premium particleboard.
The fiber procurement system champions Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) standards, and our finished panel embodies an Environmentally Preferred Product (EPP™). Boise Evergreen features industry-leading quality and physical properties, comprise 100% recycled or reclaimed fiber, and carries no added urea-formaldehyde.
