Before an installer leaves the shop a few items need to be done making sure the job goes smoother at the job site:
1. Review the Dealer Cut List and Installation Diagram to become familiar with the job and location of installation for each system.
2. Make a list of all Rail & Cap required for the job and if possible pre-cut to the lengths required. Make sure to deduct 3/4” for any finished gable that is used.
3. Make a list of all the wardrobe tubes required. Pre-cut and label the required pieces. Be careful not to cut the wardrobe tube on an angle otherwise it will be difficult to install. The proper length for oval wardrobe tube is 5/16” shorter than the fixed shelf that will be above it. Other wardrobe tubes styles require a different amount to be cut off from the fixed shelf length. 4. Assemble any drawer boxes required for the job (refer to pages 2-2 to 2-12 for instruction on drawer construction). It is a good practice to use a carpenter square to check and make sure you have assembled the box perfectly square. If the box is NOT square there will be a problem with the drawer face sitting tightly against the fixed shelf once the drawer is installed.
5. Install all the Cam fittings if possible. It is much easier to use a work bench at the shop to install the cam’s rather than trying to install them kneeling on the floor in the customers home. For the most recent Cam/Melamine color matches refer to our website.
6. Use compressed air to blow off any dirt or edge tape shavings to prevent a mess in the customers home and save time cleaning up.
7. Inspect all shelving for any damage. If any damage or chips are noticed, determine a way to install the item that will best hide the damage. A good installer should always carry color crayons or color putty to fix any blemishes.
8. Stock the van with your equipment and shelving. As you load the pieces make sure all pieces are accounted for and checked against the Dealer Cut List.
9. It is a good practice to bring an extra length of Rail & Cap and wardrobe tube for any unforeseen problems.
