Choosing the right CAD design software can be challenging due to various options, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. To aid your decision, watch the following tutorials for a better understanding. Currently, ClosetPro seamlessly integrates with our Online Ordering platform, requiring fewer adjustments post-import. KCD Software and LiveStorage require manual adjustment for drilling methods in the Online Ordering environment, but we’re working on seamless integration. While KCD Software and LiveStorage offer more flexibility for non-closet units, ClosetPro can still handle such designs with some creativity. Test all three options to determine the best fit for your needs.
The three design software packages (i.e. KCD Software, ClosetPro, and LiveStorage) all provide the ability to price the job. However, the complexity of keeping the different software options up-to-date and synchronized with our Online Ordering (OLO) platform has become problematic for Sherwood Shelving. For this reason, we are not able to adjust the pricing in the individual software and maintain a synchronized price. Dealers can continue to match their individual software pricing to OLO by adjusting their markup percentage.
To make things simple, we recommend that designs are made with your design software and pricing is determined by OLO. Importing into OLO is simple and fast, and this will avoid any discrepancies in pricing between OLO and your software.
Some dealers like to know a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Your markup must be individually determined based on your market research for your geographic location. Our research indicates that most dealers typically apply the following markups with some percent variations:
For example, if your wholesale cost for a job was $2,500 CAD and you wanted a 200% markup, you would calculate your Retail price as follows:
Markup = $2,500 x 200% = $2,500 x 2 = $5,000 Retail price = $2,500 + $5,000 = $7,500
These Retail prices typically include transporting the cabinets to the customer location as well as labor installation costs.
When determining your markup, we advise considering all costs related to your orders such as shipping or other special costs. For USA dealers you might want to factor in the difference in exchange rate between the Canadian Dollar (our cost to you) and your United States Dollar (your cost to your customer).
