Freight Costs are based on several factors such as the dimensions of the pallet being shipped, the total weight, and the destination. The location type (commercial or residential) and the inclusion of Freight Upgrades also impact the final cost. The cost per pound for shipping decreases with larger orders, making it more economical compared to shipping small or individual parts, which can incur higher costs.

Minimize Costs by avoiding Freight Upgrades. When using freight upgrades the overall costs will increase from extra fees. We advise avoiding these upgrades if possible. Smaller dealers often choose to collect orders from the nearest freight hub, offering convenience. For larger dealers with commercial sites equipped with a forklift, additional upgrade fees can be avoided. Upgrades include Private Residence/Limited Access, Tailgate, Inside, and Appointment Delivery.
FOB, or Free On Board, is a shipping term indicating the point of transfer of responsibilities from seller to buyer. Two common types are FOB Origin, where the buyer takes over at the seller’s location, and FOB Destination, where the seller is responsible until goods reach the buyer’s destination. At Sherwood Shelving, default terms are FOB Origin, but volume discounts with Freight Partners allow dealers to bill shipments to the company’s account. Charges are transparently passed to dealers, and Sherwood Shelving handles brokerage for U.S. shipments, ensuring streamlined transactions and cost efficiency.

While unforeseen circumstances such as weather, accidents, or environmental conditions may occasionally affect estimated arrival dates, our freight partners are committed to ensuring the safe and punctual delivery of shipments.
Sherwood Shelving default method of shipping is our One-Way Crate which has been rigorously tested to ensure resilience during harsh travel conditions. The order is loaded into the crate with the product on edge so that all the individual product labels are visible making is easy to remove selected items.
The crates are designed to be end lifted with either a forklift (recommended) or a pallet jack. While a regular pallet jack is suitable, be mindful that, depending on the crate’s weight, the opposite end may drag on the floor, making it somewhat challenging to move. For optimal maneuverability, we recommend using the long 72” style pallet jack, which provides better support for the longer crate.
If you do not have a forklift, these crates can easily be loaded into a van or trailer at a shipping depot. This eliminates the need to unpack and repack into a van for installation.
Upon receipt of your products, it is imperative that you visually check the packaging for damage as this might indicate Possible Concealed Damage. If you determine that the damage has penetrated the protective packaging, you need to write on the Bill of Lading, “Possible Concealed Damage” before accepting the shipment.
Failure to complete this task will result in the inability to submit a freight claim.
The Dealer is required to thoroughly examine the received order for any shortages, defects, or nonconformities. In the event of any identified defects or nonconformities, kindly provide accompanying digital images via email within 5 days of product receipt. Subsequently, replacement parts will be dispatched either with your next order or at the earliest possible time.
