The Sherwood Shelving file drawers are available with either a white melamine drawer box or a birch veneer box. Each box is engineered with file rails that extend from the front to the back, allowing seamless adjustment between letter- and legal-size filing. This front-to-back rail configuration enables hanging files to suspend side-to-side within the drawer, positioning file tabs prominently at the front for effortless visibility and access.
The drawer boxes feature durable construction, utilizing ¾-inch front, back, and sides, as well as a ½-inch bottom for enhanced strength and longevity. For optimal performance, we recommend a shelf opening (drawer width) of 18¾ inches wide by 24 inches deep. While custom depths can be accommodated, the minimum width remains 18¾ inches; any wider dimensions will result in unused space adjacent to the hanging files. To maintain a balanced appearance and efficient use of space, we advise adhering to the standard 18¾-inch width.
All file drawers include two rails for secure hanging of file folders.
For desk applications, we recommend incorporating a 29.724-inch (755 mm) high partition (gable) to achieve a comfortable working height for the desktop. Paired with a medium-size kick space, this configuration provides ample room to accommodate two stacked file drawers or one file drawer topped with two small drawers.
